thumb holidayconcertThe young chorus members of Park View Elementary will join Tennessee Tech University’s Brass Arts Quintet to tell the story of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and other Christmas favorites.

The holiday concert is free and open to the public at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, in Wattenbarger Auditorium in the Bryan Fine Arts building on the TTU campus.

“We wanted to incorporate some selections from “A Charlie Brown Christmas” into this year’s holiday concert,” said Joshua Hauser, who plays trombone in the quintet. “We thought it would be fun to invite a children’s chorus and do a complete reading of the story.”

Park View principal Bobby Winningham will narrate the story to a slide show of images from the book. The concert will include favorite tunes from other classic holiday cartoons, including “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas,” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

The quintet is comprised of Charles Decker and Chris McCormick on trumpets, Greg Danner on horn, R. Winston Morris on tuba and Hauser.

The quintet’s holiday concert is becoming a TTU tradition; this is the second year the group will play it. Last year, members performed songs related to a wide variety of holidays, including Hanukkah, New Year’s Day and Halloween.
