Dan Forrest, a pianist turned composer from Bob Jones University, will give lectures, talks and lessons with TTU music students on Monday and Tuesday, April 2-3, during a two-day residency.
At the end of his residency, the TTU Concert Choir, Tech Chorale and the Cookeville Mastersingers will perform with selections of Forrest’s works. Tech Chorale will give the premiere performance of “Lead, Kindly Light,” a song composed especially for the group.
“This is truly a unique and exciting experience for all of my choirs, and I think it will be even more exciting for the audience,” said Craig Zamer, TTU choral director. “Dr. Forrest’s choral compositions are beautifully crafted and he has a keen sense of how to heighten the pairing of text and music.”
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Wattenbarger Auditorium. It is free and open to the public.
