COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 22, 2009) — Jeff Young recently accepted the appointment as associate vice president for business and fiscal affairs at Tennessee Tech University. Young moves into the position after serving as TTU’s director of accounting for more than 10 years.

In his new role, Young assists the vice president in all areas of fiscal affairs and is responsible for foundation accounting, investments, cash management, accounts payable, general accounting, and bursar responsibilities including accounts receivable, cashiers, and loan accounting. Other areas include financial reporting and budget.

As director of accounting, Young controlled the university’s accounting system and implemented the Banner Finance system. He oversaw general accounting, data entry and accounts payable.
Young joined the university in 1993 as a grant accountant. He briefly served as accounts payable manager before becoming director of accounting in 1998. Before joining TTU, Young was a practicing certified public accountant with Duncan, Clouse and Associates in Cookeville (now Duncan, Wheeler and Wilkerson P.C.).

Young earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from Tennessee Tech. A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, he holds an inactive CPA license. He succeeds Linda Maxwell, who retired after serving the university for more than 40 years.
