Tennessee Tech University computer engineering major Cory McGinnis will spend three months working for Adtrad on a co-op, or cooperative education, assignment.

McGinnis, of Knoxville, will work as a computer engineer with the company.

“Co-op experience gives TTU students an edge as they get ready to start their careers,” said Don Foster, Career Services associate director. “Experiential education can help students develop skills and better discover what they want to do when they enter the workforce after graduation.”

Students from all academic disciplines are eligible for the TTU co-op program, coordinated by the Office of Career Services. The office regularly works with hundreds of employers across the Southeast, including business, industry, non-profit and government agencies to fit students’ career interests.

With an enrollment of more than 11,000, TTU has been named one of the top three universities in the state for return on investment, based on affordability and graduates’ earning potential by Affordable Colleges Online.

McGinnis, son of Link and Christi, graduated from Karns High School in 2011. He is a sophomore at TTU.
