The Office of Communications & Marketing won a record number of awards at this year's Tennessee College Public Relations Association conference in Chattanooga, bringing home a total of nine for its work to support and enhance Tennessee Tech University's recognition and image.
"Again, the Communications & Marketing staff members have shown they represent the university with creativity and professionalism," said J. Mark Hutchins, vice president for University Advancement. "I am very proud of all of the work they do and it's gratifying that others in the field recognize the excellence in which they portray Tennessee Tech."
A total of five gold awards were presented for the Mike Farris concert poster, Appalachian Center for Craft 2011 Exhibition Calendar, Unleash Your Awesomeness Radio ad, Unleash Your Awesomeness TV ad, and the Millard Oakley STEM Center grand opening bookmarks.
Two silver awards were presented for the university's admission view book and the 2009-2010 Annual Report of the President.
Bronze awards were presented for the university website and the Unleash Your Awesomeness student recruitment campaign.
This year's total is a record for the office, besting the previous record of five.
Universities and colleges throughout Tennessee submitted approximately 120 entries in 26 categories, representing communications media from printed newsletters to websites.
The office competed against institutions from across the state, including Vanderbilt University, the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, Middle Tennessee State University, Belmont University, Lipscomb University and Austin Peay State University.
TCPRA is an alliance of communicators who represent the colleges and universities, public and private, two-year technical schools, technology centers and community colleges that together define higher education in Tennessee.
The Office of Communications & Marketing, part of University Advancement, coordinates and supports the university's communication and enhances TTU's recognition and image. The office is the hub for Creative Services, News & Communications, Photo Services, Marketing, and Web & Digital Media.
