<Fall in the Upper Cumberland can be a busy time of year, so make your plans now to attend an annual favorite, the Bacchanal: A Celebration of Art, Wine & Food. Slated for Sunday, Oct. 23, from 1 to 5 p.m., the popular event is hosted by Spankies Restaurant in Cookeville.>
The lively Sunday afternoon occasion offers a fantastic selection of wines and specialty beers for tasting, a delectable and extensive cocktail buffet, live jazz, and the crowd's favorite – the exciting live auction of art and fine craft.
The Bacchanal is presented by Tennessee Tech and the Appalachian Center for Craft in support of art student scholarships and programming at the university.
"Plans are well under way for this year's Bacchanal, and the committee is very excited about it," commented Beth Smith, the Craft Center's program manager. "The Craft Center is incredibly lucky to have such an outstanding group of university, business, and community friends who are so dedicated to supporting emerging artists and art programs."
"I cannot believe how much this event has grown over the years," said committee member Karla Clarke. "We've expanded the event numerous times because attendance has gown significantly, and the artwork continues to be more impressive. It's encouraging to see people in this area supporting art, and this event helps showcase many talented local and regional artists."
"We almost sold out of reservations for Bacchanal 2010," added Smith. "We don't want anyone to miss out on the fun, or the chance to support the students, so please get reservations early for Bacchanal 2011. What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than supporting art students at TTU as you relax and enjoy great food and drinks, and bidding on world-class art and fine craft."
Reservations for Bacchanal 2011 are $45 per person in advance (until Friday, Oct. 21) and $55 per person at the door if the event has not sold out in advance. There are no printed "tickets" for the event, only reservations only at check-in that day. To make reservations for Bacchanal 2011, contact Shannon Terry 931-372-3051 or email email@example.com.
