Published: Fri Mar 16, 2007Some authors also make good composers — and Anthony Burgess, British novelist and writer of “A Clockwork Orange,” is apparently one of them.
The Tech Chorale will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, in the Wattenbarger Auditorium of Tennessee Tech University’s Bryan Fine Arts Building, and the highlight of the show will be the world premiere performance of Burgess’s “Spring Rondel.”
It is one of three choral settings by Burgess that the Tech Chorale will perform.
The show will also feature music by contemporary composers, including selections with two pianos and percussion from Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana.”
This summer in Liverpool, England, the Tech Chorale will present the choral music of Anthony Burgess in a lecture recital at an international symposium.
The TTU concert this week will be free and open to the public. For more information, call TTU’s department of music and art at 931/372-3161.
