Tennessee Tech University has named Tiara Laster and Andrea Engle as the Most Valuable Student Workers of the 2011-2012 academic year.

There are two programs for TTU students – the Federal Work Study Program and the University Academic Service scholarship – through which qualifying students have campus employment opportunities. Students with work study assignments receive hourly pay. In the UAS program, students complete 75 hours of service as part of their scholarship requirements.
Each year, the Office of Financial Aid asks faculty and staff who supervise student workers to nominate the top student workers, in a nomination of 100 words or less. There were 26 nominees in the work study and scholarship categories.
Laster, a business major from Chattanooga, received a nomination from Elizabeth Tudor in TTU’s Business Office.
Engle, a biology major, had nominations from Christy Carter, Pamela Malone and Phyllis Smith, all of the biology department. Engle is from Erwin, Tenn.
Laster and Engle received a Tech-themed package with items donated by the Fitness Center, the TTU Bookstore, Chartwells, Office of Alumni Relations and financial aid.
