Published: Thu Apr 9, 2009The Tennessee Small Business Development Center at Tennessee Tech University will be offering a five-part Internet marketing series beginning on Monday, April 20, and continuing April 22, 27, 29 and May 4.
Titled “The Basics to the ‘Big Bang,’” the series will run 3 to 6:30 p.m. in Room 218 of Johnson Hall. The cost to attend individual seminars is $20 per person or $89 per person to attend all five if registered and paid in advance.
“This is a repeat of our popular series designed to provide the small business owner and manager with fundamental web marketing concepts necessary to successfully position and promote a small business on the World Wide Web,” said Vicki Henley, director of the TSBDC at TTU.
“Each seminar may be taken independently; however, taken together, the series is designed to provide a complete knowledge base of web site development and maintenance considerations,” she continued.
The first seminar, “Marketing 101 — Just the Facts, Please!” on April 20, will discuss fundamental principles of marketing, while the remaining four seminars will focus on tools and techniques for web marketing.
The series continues with “Web Site Fundamentals — The First Step in Web site Development” on Wednesday, April 22. This seminar will arm participants with terminology and web site development concepts in preparation for working with a web developer.
“Web Site Maintenance for the Novice” is the third session in the series, and it will be offered on Monday, April 27. Participants will learn how to maintain and update their existing web site, and participants without web sites will learn questions to ask before selecting a web developer and web hosting company.
The fourth session in the series is “Web site Optimization — Search Engine Optimization for Dummies,” and it will be offered on Wednesday, April 29. It will give participants tips about how to make their web sites visible to search engines.
The fifth and final session of the series is “Web Site Marketing Mastery — Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools,” which will be offered on Monday, May 4. Google Analytics is one of the most effective web marketing tools available for small businesses today — and it’s free. This seminar will give participants valuable information about how to use it.
To register for any or all of the seminars, go online to www.tsbdc.org or call the TSBDC at TTU at 931/372-3648.
