Alexander Claussen, a student of Gayle Vann of Norcross, Ga., took home the $1,000 Herman Godes Award.
“This competition showcases some of the best musical talent in our region,” said Catherine Godes, TTU piano professor and event coordinator. “It is my hope that this event will grow and continue to inspire young pianists to achieve artistic mastery.”
The second place prize, the $500 S.K. Ballal Award went to Tony Chen, a student of Rose Wang of Germantown. Third place’s $350 Rodney Carlson Award went to Anya Li, a student of Li Li of Brentwood. The fourth place Hope High Award went to Lana Ngo, one of Godes’ students.
The competition’s other entrants were Franklin Gong, also one of Godes’ students; Nicholas Lobo, a student of Sin-Hsing of Chattanooga; and Zuoyu Zhang and Jacob Wriz, both students of Chattanooga’s Thomas Schow.
Joy Rachor, Todd Arnold and Janice Warhurst were this year’s judges.
