The three-act comedy-drama opens at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 20. Other show times will be 8 p.m. on April 21, 22, 24, 25, 28 and 29 and 10 p.m. on Thursday, April 27.
“This is a classic American play that tells an entertaining yet poignant coming-of-age story. It’s a good, family show that’s appropriate and likely meaningful for almost everyone,” said Director Mark Creter.
Ticket prices are $8 for general admission, $6 for senior citizens, $4 for non-TTU students and free for TTU students who present their Eagle Card identifications.
Based on Thomas Wolfe’s novel by the same name, the play won a Pulitzer Prize and a New York Critics’ Award after its debut in 1958.
The 19-member cast of TTU’s production of Look Homeward, Angel is made up of both student and community actors, Creter said. “We’ve got a good balance of seasoned actors and new faces, students and community actors,” he said.
A Center Stage event, the play is presented in cooperation with TTU’s Department of English and Communications and produced in arrangement with Samuel French Inc.
The Backdoor Playhouse is located in the rear of TTU’s Jere Whitson Building.
