James Lotz, music professor at Tennessee Tech University, will present a bassoon recital at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13 in Wattenbarger Auditorium.

The recital will feature the premiere of a piece by Nashville composer Bryan Louiselle, who will also be performing with Lotz.

Louiselle has written music and lyrics for many musicals, including High School Musical and High School Musical 2, and adapted the film scores for stage production. For the past 25 years he has conducted, written and arranged music for many shows for Broadway, Radio City Music Hall, Civic Light Opera and other productions around the world.

Lotz is the principal bassoonist with the Bryan Symphony Orchestra and the Cumberland Quintet and performs regularly with the Nashville Symphony and the Nashville Opera and Ballet Orchestra.

The evening performance will include Louiselle’s Exit, pursued by a Bear, as well as music by Antonio Vivaldi, Paul Jeanjean and contemporary jazz composer Bill Douglas.

The Wattenbarger Auditorium is located in the Bryan Fine Arts building on TTU’s campus. The performance is free and open to the public.
