thumb BAQRyanSnellThe Brass Arts Quintet at Tennessee Tech University will continue its 2013-2014 season with a tribute to the music of America at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 14.

Selections to be performed include new and traditional works for brass including the premiere of Morton Gould’s “American Salute,” transcribed for brass by TTU music professor and resident composer Greg Danner. Other selections include works by Aaron Copland and Charles Ives, as well as the Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “Liberty Bell March,” and solos featuring TTU trumpet professors Charles Decker and Chris McCormick, and trombone professor Joshua Hauser.

With selections ranging from the late 19th century theme and variations, to Sousa marches, forward to Dixieland jazz and some Ray Charles, the program will include music for all to enjoy.

The ensemble members are Decker and McCormick; Danner, horn; Hauser and Ryan Snell, tuba. The concert will be streamed live at www.tntech.edu/music/live.

The performance will be in TTU’s Wattenbarger Auditorium in TTU’s Bryan Fine Arts Building, 1150 N. Dixie Ave. It is free and open to the public.
