And who better to teach those skills to individual elementary, junior high, and high school students interested in improving their cheerleading ability than Tennessee Tech University’s varsity cheerleaders and Coach Robin Burroughs?
That’s why TTU is hosting its first ever Golden Eagle Individual Cheer Camp, a three-day commuter camp for students in 1st through 12th grades, on Thursday through Saturday, July 20-22.
The camp will be divided into two different tracks — one for grades 1-5 and another for grades 6-12 — and the cost for attending will be $100 for the younger campers and $130 for the older campers.
A $25 discount is offered to parents enrolling a second child, and the registration deadline is Thursday, July 13.
For the cost to individual participants, each will be instructed in various cheerleading skills, receive a camp T-shirt and certificate of participation, have the opportunity to win spirit and skill medals and present a closing performance for family and friends.
In addition, campers will have the opportunity to attend a karaoke party, dance and cookout on the camp’s Thursday night and to attend a pool party on that Friday.
All classes will be conducted in air conditioned facilities and medical personnel will be on site. Campers will be accompanied by TTU "big brothers or big sisters" to and from all locations.
The camp opens at 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 20, and runs through 6 p.m., with lunch and dinner provided for participants in both tracks.
It begins at 8 a.m. on Friday, July 21, and runs through 2 p.m. for campers in the 1-5 grade track. It runs through 8 p.m. for campers in the 6-12 grade track. Lunch will be provided for both, and dinner will be provided also for the older campers.
The final day of the event will run from 8 a.m. to noon.
