Published: Thu Dec 12, 2002Schedules of everything from art exhibits to volleyball matches at Tennessee Tech University can now be at your fingertips thanks to a new comprehensive online calendar system.
The system, which features 42 separate calendars that can be mixed and matched according to preference, allows anyone with web access to see what’s happening at TTU on any given day at just the click of a mouse button.
"It’s the newest feature of our evolving TTU web site, and it allows users to see everything scheduled on campus in one location and to tailor the information to their own interests or needs," said Monica Greppin, TTU’s director of Public Affairs.
Interactive features allow for a summary view of everything or options for more detailed descriptions, in which selected calendars can be viewed in daily, weekly or monthly formats.
"Users can even subscribe to the various calendars and receive e-mails about upcoming scheduled events," she said.
Music lovers, for example, can subscribe to the new service and receive e-mail notifications of each campus concert prior to its performance. Or basketball fans can find out in advance about games and programs. Users can subscribe to as many of the calendars as they choose.
But that’s not all. Anyone — both on campus and off — can also submit information about campus and community events to be included on the calendars. As a safeguard, trained campus maintainers approve or deny all submissions before they are posted.
If properly used, the calendar could help avoid scheduling conflicts on campus and in the community.
Further information is provided on the web site about how to use the calendar, submit information about an event or subscribe for e-mailed event notices.
To access the feature, click on the "Calendars" link on the TTU homepage or go to http://calendar.tntech.edu. For more information, call the Public Affairs office at 372-3214.
