The athletics department and Service Center at Tennessee Tech University are teaming up to sponsor a series of events Nov. 17 to 19 to benefit an ongoing community service project.
A chili cook-off will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, on the South Patio of the Roaden University Center. For $5, individuals, clubs or departments can enter their chili into the contest. They are also welcome to bring a crock-pot of chili to sell at the event.
All proceeds from the cook-off will go to Help First, a database of regional volunteer opportunities and resources, which is being developed to answer a call from the White House for colleges to engage in community service.
The winner will be announced and awarded a prize during the fourth quarter of the Nov. 19 football game against Austin Peay. Entrants are encouraged to bring their chili to tailgating before the game.
