thumb CumbQuinThe Cumberland Quintet at Tennessee Tech University will have some fun during their last concert of the semester on April Fool’s Day.

The group will perform a variety of interesting pieces, in keeping with the holiday, including Leo Sowerby’s arrangement of “Pop Goes the Weasel,” “Vaudeville!” a piece by TTU composer Greg Danner, and an arrangement by TTU horn professor Jeremy Hansen of “A Word on My Ear” by Flanders and Swann. The quintet will also play John Bur’s “Fire tredve tre” and Volmers’ arrangement of “Chiapanecas.”

The Cumberland Quintet is composed of TTU professors Roger Martin, flute; William Woodworth, oboe; Wonkak Kim, clarinet; James Lotz, bassoon; and Hansen. TTU music department chair Jennifer Shank and voice professor Diane Pulte will perform as special guests in the concert.

Held in Wattenbarger Auditorium in the Bryan Fine Arts building, the performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 1. It is free and open to the public.

The Bryan Fine Arts building is at 1150 N. Dixie Ave. on the TTU campus.
