When presented with any type of document requiring a signature for the University, make sure that you are properly authorized to sign it. Documents that legally bind the University are only executable by the President or his direct signatories. Unless the President has specifically designated you as a signatory for a particular document type, you could be assuming personal liability when signing. Contracts take many forms -- terms and conditions, terms of sale, rental agreement, warranty -- just to name a few. Never assume a document is harmless. Contact the Purchasing and Contracts Office online to schedule departmental contract training or by calling 3491 whenever you have a question about a document before you sign!
