In September 2013 a complaint was reported to Environmental Health and Safety about the water quality in Foundation Hall. The complaint was that the water may be unsafe to drink. The water source for Foundation Hall is from the City of Cookeville. The TTU Water Center collected samples from all three floors of Foundation Hall. Lead is below detection limits. Bacteria, which is the critical parameter, is non-detect for all samples.
The City of Cookeville re-tested the chlorine residual on October 9, 2013. The results were 1.8ppm. The minimum requirement set by the EPA is .2ppm. Foundation Hall is 9 times over the minimum EPA requirement. Based on the analysis, the water meets the EPA primary and secondary drinking water standard requirements. The water is completely safe to drink.
