2018 Posters at the Capitol competition winners announced
Please congratulate Sarah Grossarth, Allison Wittmer, Anna Webb, Madison Fulmer, Soomin Choi, Seth Crum, and Parker Lusk as this year’s poster competition winners. Every year the State of Tennessee hosts a "Posters at the Capitol" event at the State Capitol in Nashville. Sixty one students from the six Tennessee Board of Regents universities, and the three University of Tennessee campuses have the opportunity to show their Undergraduate Research and visit their State Legislators, including meeting the Governor. This prestigious event will be held Tuesday, February 20.
The stated goals of this event are to: (1) expose legislators to undergraduate researchers and (2) to expose undergraduates to their legislators. This is a great opportunity for our students to see how their State Representatives work.
Undergraduate Research is actively supported through the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity (URECA!) program for the academic year and our new QEP via CISE summer grants. Additionally, TTU is an active member of the Council of Undergraduate Research (CUR).
The URECA! ( Undergraduate REsearch and Creative Activity) Program provides monetary assistance for undergraduates who pursue research and creative activities at TTU through academic year mini-grants, summer grants with stipends, and travel grants for students and their accompanying faculty mentors. The mini-grants are for the academic year with a maximum award of $1,000, and the summer grants are for a maximum of $4,000 including a stipend. Undergraduate researchers and their faculty mentors can also apply for travel grants.
For Fall Semester 2015, the Undergraduate Research Awards Committee will accept applications for URECA! Program Mini-grants until October 23rd. Summer grant applications for summer 2016 will be accepted only in Spring semester 2016 as NEW CISE ( Creative Inquiry Summer Experience) Grants . Undergraduate research is a student-faculty collaboration to examine, create, and share new knowledge or works in ways commensurate with practices in the discipline.
Opportunities for undergraduate research and creative activities are extensive at TTU and limited only by your imagination. Research and creative activities should be directed by a faculty member within the University, but it can be conducted independently, on a team, and or in an outside facility. URECA! Grant applications should be sent to Ed Lisic, Director of the Undergraduate Research Program, Foster Hall 224, e-mail: email@example.com .
