    • EPA Scientific Application and Database Developer 
      The EPA Environmental Research and Business Support Program is searching for a Scientific Application and Database Developer to join the National Center for Computational Toxicology (NCCT), at the EPA facility in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The Developer will be responsible for providing application development and database programming support for the NCCT, which develops computational tools for improving environmental risk assessments and chemical safety regulatory decisions. 

      Full-time, $27.72/hour, expected to begin May 2017   |  Must have earned a master’s degree in bioinformatics, biology, chemistry, computational biology, computer science, information science, math, physics, statistics, or a closely related field   |  Must have education/experience in a programming or scripting language, a working knowledge of web application development, and a strong working knowledge of relational databases

    • Toxicity Reference Database Support Position
      The EPA Environmental Research and Business Support Program has an immediate opening for a Toxicity Reference Database Support position with the Office of Research at the EPA’s Research Triangle facility in Raleigh-Durham, NC. The selected candidate will provide data management, data curation and data analysis support to the ToxRefDB project. This is a combination of MySQL database management, NoSQL solutions, file management, data curation and extraction, quality control, as well as performing qualitative and quantitative data analysis. He/she will also be working with a number of heterogeneous toxicological datasets from other projects including ToxCast and Tox21. He/she will also work with ontologies for mapping biological concepts across resources.

    • Biological Lab Research Support Positions
      The EPA Environmental Research and Business Support Program has an immediate opening for an EPA Biological Lab Research Support position with the Office of Research and Development at the EPA’s facility in Duluth, Minnesota. The selected candidate shall assist with projects aimed at understanding the flows of materials, energy, and contaminants through aquatic food webs in support of biological monitoring and effects characterization. He/she shall work as part of a larger research team, with responsibilities focused on laboratory processing of biological samples but also potentially including assisting with field sampling, electronic data processing, and general research support.

    • Gas Sensor Engineer at EPA  
      The EPA Environmental Research and Business Support Program is searching for a part-time Gas Sensor Engineer at the EPA facility in Raleigh-Durham, NC. The Engineer participates as part of a team developing a lightweight sensor/sampler-based system that would be deployed for aerial emission sampling on aerostats and UASs such as multicopters. Past field sampling applications have included at-sea oil fires, waste pile fires, prescribed forest burns, and open burning/open detonation of military ordnance. 

      Part time, $25.19/hour  |  Must have earned a Bachelor’s degree and have completed at least one year of coursework/research toward an advanced degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, or related field of study  |

    • Wetlands Simulation Developer at EPA (Part Time)

The developer will provide support for the development of a Python-scripted simulation approach to estimate wetland-specific hydrological travel times across multiple watersheds.     • Post-Doctoral Researcher Associate or Graduate Student- Computational Electromagnetics and Converter Design for Solid State Transformers

    • Post-Doctoral Researcher – Computational materials scientist

    •  The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is offering an 11-week summer undergraduate research fellowship program in Boulder, CO, and Gaithersburg, MD, for students majoring in science, engineering, and mathematics.  Eligibility and other information can be found on the NIST SURF website. Dr. Duckbong Kim will host an informational session on the program at 2 p.m., 1/24/18, in Lewis Hall 101.  NIST will offer informational webinars on 1/10/18 (11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) and 1/17/18 (12:30 – 2 p.m.).
