Dr. Pardue is a tenured Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Tennessee Technological University, on faculty in the ME Dept since 1999. She is the Director of the Oakley STEM Center for the Teaching and Learning of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, since 2009. A TN education product, she graduated salutatorian from Hickman Co High School in 1985 and graduated with a PhD in engineering from Tenn Tech Univ in 1995. She teaches courses in mechanical measurements, dynamics, machine design, vibration diagnostics, dynamic modeling and control, introductory freshmen engineering courses, honors colloquia in Creativity and STEM Education, and PhD courses in STEM Education Leadership and Policy. Her engineering discipline research includes nondestructive evaluation and material characterization using random vibrations for applications such as machinery health monitoring, highway bridge diagnostics, and composite materials flaw and/or damage detection. Her educational research interests include science misconceptions, longitudinal progession and transfer of learning, research training, and integrated STEM learning. She is a past Chairperson of the Tennessee STEM Education Leadership Council, and a current member of the TN STEM Innovation Network as Director of the Upper Cumberland Rural STEM Initiative Hub Project.

Scott joined the staff of the Millard Oakley STEM Center on January 20th in the role of Instructional Training Coordinator. He has a passion for STEM education issues and systemic thinking around education policy. Scott earned his doctorate and master’s degrees from Trevecca Nazarene University; his undergraduate degree is from Tennessee Tech University. Previously, he served as Executive Staff for the Tennessee State Board of Education since 2012 and he served as the mathematics director for the department of education during the Bredesen administration. During this time he also served as President of the Association of State Supervisors of Mathematics (ASSM). Before that, he spent more than a decade teaching mathematics at the middle and high school level. He has presented at several state and national level conferences and served as an editor for the development of the Common Core mathematics standards.
