Applications are invited for two faculty heads to lead the Men's Learning Village in Browning/Evins Halls and the Service Station Service and Leadership Village in New Hall South.

Those selected will join faculty heads for the five other learning villages: the Tree House Environmental Village at New Hall North, the Women’s Village at Crawford Hall, the Engineering Village at Maddux/McCord Halls, the Arts and Media Village at Ellington/Warf Halls, and the Global Village at MS Cooper/Pinkerton Halls. Each faculty head is responsibile for fostering personal and intellectual growth of students and for creating a strong sense of community. Preparation for relevant duties will begin this spring.

To allow for full involvement in village life, the position of faculty head carries a significant release from one’s regular teaching load, along with a stipend and other support. The appointment term is for three years and is renewable.

Required Qualifications
• Must be a tenured, full-time faculty member at Tennessee Tech at the time of appointment
• Must demonstrate a commitment to student success and development, and a commitment to the village's emphasis
• Must have a record of successful teaching and service

• Promote student learning and development in a residential setting
• Lead students in creating and implementing the village’s identity, programming and activities
• Serve as campus ombudsperson for the village and its students
• Collaborate with assistant coordinator and other Residential Life staff
• Encourage involvement of other faculty, as well as staff, alumni and community members in village activities
• Maintain flexible hours, including evenings and weekends 
• Oversee management of village’s activities budget
• Maintain office hours in village office
• Participate in governance, including serving on council of village faculty heads and subcommittees

Compensation and Support
• Academic-year stipend of $5,000
• Release from 50 percent of normal teaching load
• Office space in residence hall
• Reserved parking space at residence hall
• Expenses related to campus food services

By Jan. 28, send the following materials to Lenly Weathers, Chair, Faculty Head Selection Committee, TTU Box 5015:

• Letter of application that states your vision as faculty head for the village for which you are applying, especially how you would promote its theme. This should address the issues of creating the village’s identity and community, and the connections between “living” and “learning” essential to the success of the village.
• Curriculum vitae and other documentation of your strengths relevant to the position.
• At least two letters of recommendation, assessing your suitability and relevant strengths for this position.
• All available IDEA results for the past two years
