The university is looking for outstanding seniors who graduated in December 2011 or are scheduled to graduate in May or August 2012 to consider for the 2012 Derryberry Award.
This prestigious award is presented in accordance with the following guidelines:
A plaque and cash award are presented annually to a graduating senior who has exhibited scholastic attainment arising out of moral and intellectual integrity; successful campus activity where participation indicates a commitment to good citizenship, interest in one's fellow person, and instincts for leadership; and physical vigor as shown by fondness for and success in sports--all of which demonstrate potential for future service and effective leadership in American society.
This award was established in honor of the late Dr. Everett Derryberry who retired in 1974 after 34 years as president of the university.
Again this year, nomination materials are available on the TTU webpage. A blank nomination form and a template to use as a guide when completing the form can be found at: http://www.tntech.edu/studentaffairs/derryberryaward/.
For the sake of consistency and ease in scoring, we recommend that all nomination materials are prepared in the format used in the template. Your nominations should be submitted no later than Friday, Feb. 17, and can be emailed to email@example.com, mailed to Debbie Combs at TTU Box 5007, or delivered to Derryberry Hall 206.
An ad hoc committee will review all nominations, interview finalists, and select the 2012 recipient.
