As part of the new contract between the state and Minnesota Life, employees will be offered a one-time open enrollment opportunity to enroll or increase coverage in the Optional Group Term Life insurance program.
A letter and information about the open enrollment is being sent by Minnesota Life to all full-time employees’ homes between March 25 and April 1.
Enrollment will be online from April 15 – April 28. If you need help enrolling, Minnesota Life’s Customer Service Center is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT at 1-866-881-0631.
The one-time open enrollment opportunity is as follows:
- Employees - up to five times annual base salary to a maximum of $500,000 (7 times is available but with proof of good health)
- Spouses under 55 – up to $30,000
- Spouses 55 and over – up to $15,000
- Children - $5,000 or $10,000
Coverage is guaranteed for employees without having to provide proof of good health. All full-time employees are eligible for this open enrollment even if you are not currently participating in the Optional Group Term Life insurance program. However, any employee who was previously declined for coverage by Minnesota Life may re-apply by submitting proof of good health; you will be prompted to complete Evidence of Insurability online at the same time as enrollment.
