Summer graduates still have a lot of activities to put on their calendars even though the university will not hold a summer commencement ceremony.
First, Senior Salute will be held Wednesday in the University Bookstore. Balfour representatives will be available to take class ring orders. Since summer undergrad and graduate students will be invited to walk in the fall commencement ceremony on Dec. 18, they can also pick up caps and gowns and order invitations.
If you are a summer graduate who cannot visit the bookstore on Wednesday, you may pick up a cap and gown on another day or have it shipped to you with a $6.95 shipping fee.
Each summer graduate receiving an undergradate degree must visit the Records Office website www2.tntech.edu/records/grad to enter two responses: a “yes” or “no” about walking in fall commencement and the address to mail your diploma. Rehearsal for fall commencement will be Thursday, Dec. 16, at 4 p.m. Summer graduates receiving undergraduate degrees will not receive a reminder, and unless you respond that you plan to attend there will not be a seat reserved for you and your name will not appear on the list for the readers at the commencement.
Alumni Relations will host an alumni open house for all graduating seniors from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on July 28 in the lobby of the Jere Whitson Building on the Quad. Refreshments will be offered all day, and every graduating student who comes by will receive a free gift from the Alumni Association and Career Services.
Photo Services will take cap and gown portrait photos from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with no sitting fee. Caps and gowns will be available for use.
Doctoral candidates have the option of participating in a hooding ceremony on Aug. 6 in the RUC’s Tech Pride Room. If you plan to participate, contact the Office of Research and Graduate Studies at 372-3233.
