John Brooks will join Tennessee Tech University as Associate Vice President for Human Resources on Monday, Jan. 13.
Brooks most recently served as Chief Human Resources Officer for the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. He brings extensive experience in human resources management including higher education, State Supreme, circuit and appellate courts, state personnel and civil service systems and private and public sector consulting.
In addition Brooks has experience in academic and professional teaching on both the bachelor's and master's levels. He holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice administration/psychology from Drury University and a master of public administration degree from Missouri State University.
AT ULL, he was responsible for the development and delivery of all university human resource functions for 2,100 faculty and staff serving a student population of 18,000. Prior to holding this position, he served Clayton State University for almost five years working with more than 1,500 full- and part-time faculty and staff. While at Clayton State, he coordinated efforts for which the university received recognition from the Atlanta Journal Constitution and Workplace Dynamics as an "Atlanta Metropolitan Area Top 100 Workplace" for 2012.
Brooks has overseen the establishment of a complete compensation and classification system and has held responsibility for areas including benefits, recruitment, training, policy, compliance, metrics, employee relations and Human Resource Information Systems.
