The Whitson-Hester celebrates its faculty on National Certified Nurses Day. Over 70% of the nursing faculty hold nationally recognized certification through 6 certifying organizations in 10 areas of professional nursing practice. To obtain a certification, nurses complete additional education, training, and time in clinical practice, specified by the certifying organization and beyond minimum education, training, and practice requirements. In addition, continuous education, training, and clinical practice is required to maintain these certifications. We congratulate the following faculty for these distinctive areas of certification:

Dr. Kim Hanna - Board Certified Nurse Leader (CNL)

Professor Jennifer Mabry - Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)

Professor Tammy Howard - Board Certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP-BC); RNC-OB

Professor Susan Clark - Board Certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP); Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE)

Dr. Melissa Geist - Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP); Certified Nurse Educator (CNE)
