Ph.D. Hispanic Linguistics, University of Pittsburgh

Dr. Olsen joined the Department of Foreign Languages in the fall of 2018. He earned a B.A. in Spanish and a Masters of Second Language Teaching from Utah State University. He earned an M.A. and Ph.D. in Hispanic Linguistics from the University of Pittsburgh. Before joining Tennessee Tech, he taught Spanish language and linguistics courses as well as foreign language teaching methods courses at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. His research interests include the acquisition of L2 Spanish grammar and vocabulary, the effects of instruction on L2 Spanish grammar, L2 attrition, and foreign language teacher education.
