About

Dr. Luo joined Tech in Fall 2022. As a foreign-born faculty, she is passionate about working with students from diverse backgrounds. Dr. Luo endorses Connected Teaching and believes the educator-learner relationship is crucial to adult learning. She values student engagement and always strives to have a fun classroom.

Dr. Luo is a National Certified Counselor and a professional counselor licensed in Tennessee and Texas. She has worked with children, adolescents, and adults who struggle with various issues, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and stage of life issues. Her biggest motivation for continue being a counselor is having the opportunity to admire resilience and witness client growth.

Dr. Luo serves the counseling profession through professional organizations and journals. She is the current Associate Editor for the Journal of Professional Counseling: Practice, Theory, and Research. She also serves on three other reviewer boards, including the Journal of Counseling and Development, the flagship journal of the American Counseling Association.

Dr. Luo's recent research interests include bilingual and multicultural counseling, Asian racial and cultural identities, and technology use in counseling and counselor education.

Dr. Luo loves Cookeville. She can be frequently spotted at Lazy Cow and the City Lake Natural Area.
