Dorota Silber-Furman was born and raised in Wroclaw, Poland. She graduated from the
University of Wroclaw with a Bachelor of Arts, Philology. At the age of 22 she moved
to the United States where she continued her education. She received a Bachelor of
Science in Multidisciplinary Studies, Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in
Curriculum and Instruction. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Education degree
from Tennessee Technological University.
Her research interests are connected to literacy, international education, culturally relevant practice, multicultural education, ELLs, and critical theory.
