Michelle Davis receiving the Outstanding Staff Award from Joseph C. SlaterTennessee Tech University’s College of Engineering has named Michelle Davis as the recipient of its 2023 Outstanding Staff Award. Michelle has dedicated more than 15 years of service to the college, where she currently serves as the Coordinator for the Center for Manufacturing Research. Davis was presented the award on April 25th during the college’s Faculty and Staff Appreciation Luncheon.

As the coordinator for Tech’s Industrial Assessment Center, Davis has played a pivotal role in securing $4.5 million in U.S. Department of Energy awards and facilitated energy assessments for more than 200 manufacturers while involving more than 120 undergraduate and graduate students.

In addition to her role as a coordinator, Davis has gone above and beyond in contributing to the college’s growth in additive manufacturing. As a certified Lead Auditor for ISO systems, she has strengthened the center’s relationships with industry. Davis has also organized various outreach activities for manufacturing, including training workshops, high-school student engagement, and the Golden Eagle Additively Innovative Virtual Lecture Series, and coordinated the National Science Foundation's Research Experiences for Undergraduates program for seven years, providing exceptional support to students from other universities during their 10-week stays in Cookeville.

"Michelle's dedication and service to the college are truly outstanding," said Joseph C. Slater, dean for the College of Engineering. "Her skills and knowledge have provided tremendous value to industry and to our students. Michelle is an exemplary member of the college community, and her tireless efforts have had a profound impact on the college's growth and success."
