Tennessee Tech University is making it easier than ever for students to enjoy Cookeville’s vibrant downtown dining, shopping and social scene with “Wings Up Wednesdays on the WestSide.” The weekly event provides exclusive discounts, special deals and free shuttle service between campus and the heart of Cookeville’s WestSide district.

Launched by Tech’s Division of Student Affairs in partnership with local businesses, Wings Up Wednesdays on the WestSide lets students enjoy special pricing each Wednesday with their Tech ID at Cookeville favorites like 37 Cedar, Cream City, Father Tom’s, Fire & Vine, Jamie’s Eats & Sweets, Red Silo, Seven Senses and WestSide Scoreboard.

Free shuttle service for students will run on Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. when classes are in session, with pickup and drop-off behind the Regions Bank location at 10 W Broad Street.

“Cookeville is Tennessee’s College Town, and we love being able to show our students all there is to see and experience in our beautiful WestSide district,” said Cynthia Polk-Johnson, vice president for Student Affairs at Tech. “Tennessee Tech and Cookeville have an enduring partnership, and this is a great way that we can support our local businesses while helping students feel connected and at home here in the community.”

Wings Up Wednesdays on the WestSide is just the latest way that Tech and the City of Cookeville are linking arms to support both students and the community. The university also partnered with the city on gateway monument signs along Interstate 40 exits 286 and 287 that read “Cookeville, home of Tennessee Tech.”

Last fall, for the second year, Tech held its “College Town Kickoff” block party and concert in downtown Cookeville for Tech students and the community. The 2025 event is set for Aug. 23.
