Tennessee Tech College of Business to host Walter Isaacson at 2026 Spring Celebration
Tennessee Tech University’s College of Business will welcome bestselling author, historian and journalist Walter Isaacson as the featured speaker for its 2026 Spring Celebration. Tickets for the annual event are now on sale and open to the public.
The Spring Celebration will be held Monday, March 30, at 6 p.m. at the Putnam County Convention Center. The evening brings together College of Business alumni, supporters, faculty, students and community members to celebrate the college’s achievements.
Isaacson is widely recognized for his biographies of transformative leaders and innovators. His acclaimed works include “Elon Musk,” “Steve Jobs,” “Benjamin Franklin: An American Life” and “The Innovators: How a Group of Hackers, Geniuses and Geeks Created the Digital Revolution.”
His latest book, “The Greatest Sentence Ever Written,” explores the indelible self-evident truths proclaimed by the Declaration of Independence and why they remain relevant as the nation approaches the 250th anniversary of the document.
Throughout his career, Isaacson has served as CEO of the Aspen Institute, chairman and CEO of CNN, and editor of Time magazine. He serves as a professor of history at Tulane University and an advisory partner at Parella Weinberg. His writing and commentary explore the intersection of leadership, innovation and civic responsibility — themes that closely align with the mission of Tech’s College of Business.
“Walter Isaacson is one of the most renowned biographers of our time, and we are thrilled to provide our students, faculty and community the opportunity to hear from him in Cookeville during the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding,” said Thomas Payne, dean of the College of Business at Tennessee Tech. “His scholarship and storytelling about the geniuses of history inspire us to think about the values that guide our decisions and the legacy we hope to leave. We invite the campus and the broader community to join us for what promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking evening.”
Isaacson’s appearance is part of the college’s Albrecht Distinguished Lecture Series, which brings top names in business and public life to Cookeville through a generous endowment from the late Joe Albrecht, a longtime College of Business trustee, newspaper publisher and community leader.
Past Spring Celebration speakers have included Governor Bill Lee, “Shark Tank” star Barbara Corcoran, Pulitzer Prize-winning historians and authors Doris Kearns Goodwin and Jon Meacham, Wall Street Journal columnist and former White House speechwriter Peggy Noonan, AI visionary Zack Kass and ESPN sportscaster Dick Vitale, among others.
Registration for this year’s event includes an evening reception with dinner, drinks and a signed copy of “The Greatest Sentence Ever Written.”
