Applied Mathematics

The Applied Mathematics concentration emphasizes courses needed by students who plan to work alongside scientists and engineers in industry. It is recommended that the student minor in computer science as a complement to this track. The Department of Mathematics offers a well-balanced curriculum that can prepare students for immediate entry into the workforce or for further study at the graduate level. The curriculum provides students with a solid foundation in mathematics while offering flexibility in course selection. Students can prepare for many different careers in business, industry, education, and government. Among the alumni of the department are teachers, professors, lawyers, financial professionals, insurance industry executives, software engineers, as well as researchers and administrators in the defense industry.
