Faculty Reviews & Evaluations

Faculty Reviews & Evaluation

Faculty Reviews & Evaluation provide faculty with resources and support for navigating annual evaluations, tenure, and promotion. At Tennessee Tech, we utilize Watermark® Faculty Success to document accomplishments, maintain your faculty activity record, and prepare materials throughout the review and evaluation process. Learn more about each review and evaluation process below. Additional information for each review process can be found within the Faculty Handbook and Policy Central.

Annual Evaluation

Each year, all full-time faculty are evaluated by their department chairs, deans, and the Provost during the Annual Evaluation process beginning January 15. The annual evaluation process is conducted via Watermark® Faculty Success System. Faculty are encouraged to update their yearly activities within Watermark each semester to prepare for annual evaluations. To learn more about this process, visit the Watermark resources.

Tenure & Promotion

Effective Fall 2024, the process for tenure and promotion reviews has transitioned to viewing of candidate dossier materials and peer and administrative feedback and recommendations all within the Watermark® Faculty Success System. The Academic Administrative Calendar is distributed to Department Chairs/School Directors in the summer before the academic year starts to help with timeline and planning purposes. In it, current dates/deadlines related to Tenure & Promotion review processes are included. Information regarding each process and supporting documents can be found within Policy Central and additional information is available within the Faculty Handbook.

Lecturer Re-Appointment

Consistent with all other faculty appointments, a Lecturer is evaluated annually by the unit chair/director. Lecturers are typically hired on a three-year contract.  At the beginning of the third (or final year of their contract) year of the three-year contract (following the schedule for the tenure-track faculty), the lecturer will put together a dossier for evaluation according to the procedures outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
