Campus Hazing Transparency Report
To comply with the Stop Campus Hazing Act (SCHA), Tennessee Tech must compile a Campus Hazing Transparency Report (Hazing Report) summarizing findings concerning any student organization established or recognized by the university found to be in violation of Tennessee Tech’s standards of conduct relating to hazing.
Under the SCHA, Tennessee Tech will:
-
On July 1, 2025, begin collecting information with respect to hazing incidents at the university.
-
On or before December 23, 2025, make the Hazing Report publicly available on Tennessee Tech’s website; and
-
At least twice a year, update the Hazing Report to include, for the period beginning on the date on which the Hazing Report was last published and ending on the date on which such update is submitted, each incident involving a student organization for which a finding of responsibility is issued relating to a hazing violation.
Each hazing incident contained in the Hazing Report must include:
-
The name of such student organization.
-
A general description of the violation that resulted in a finding of responsibility, including whether the violation involved the abuse or illegal use of alcohol or drugs, the findings of the institution, and any sanctions placed on the student organization by the institution, as applicable.
-
The dates on which –
-
The incident was alleged to have occurred;
-
The investigation into the incident was initiated.
-
The investigation ended with a finding that a hazing violation occurred; and
-
Tennessee Tech provided notice to the student organization that the incident resulted in a hazing violation.
-
Tennessee Tech is not required to develop the Hazing Report or provide updates until a finding of responsibility
occurs.
Annual Statistics on Hazing
Annual statistics on hazing are available in Tennessee Tech’s Annual Security and Fire Safety Report.
Publication on the University’s Public Website
Tennessee Tech shall publish the Hazing Report in a prominent location on Tennessee Tech’s public website. In addition to the Hazing Report, the website will include:
-
a statement notifying the public of the annual availability of statistics on hazing contained in Tennessee Tech’s Annual Security and Fire Safety Report;
-
information about Tennessee Tech’s policies relating to hazing under and applicable local, State, Federal and Tribal laws on hazing; and
-
information included in each update as required by the SCHA. This information shall be maintained for a period of five (5) calendar years from the date of publication of such update.
