Clothesline Project, 2026!

April 28th, 2026

Open walk through from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Roaden University Center, Room 101

The Clothesline Project displays handmade shirts bearing witness to interpersonal violence in our community. Each shirt is decorated to represent a particular survivor's experience. The Clothesline Project started with thirty-one shirts hung in Hyannis, Massachusetts in 1990 to call attention to interpersonal and family violence. Since then, thousands of projects have been started in communities worldwide. We have been involved since 1998 and have always welcomed participation from all people. We display our collection every April during Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Please join us in participating in this national and annual campaign!

Who We Are

At Tennessee Tech's Gretta Stanger Center, we work to ensure that Tennessee Tech is a welcoming space for everyone, encouraging a sense of belonging for all. We offer education about how gender impacts everyone's lives, and support resources to ensure that all people feel belonging at Tech. We serve the faculty, staff, and students along with the members of our wider community.

EducationWomens suffrage parade

Throughout the semester we provide educational programming showing how gender shapes people's lives and creates obstacles we can all help tackle. We host events like visiting speakers, film screenings, book club, and more and share information through social media.

The Gretta Stanger Center has a robust library with books and films covering a wide range of topics including a great selection of fiction, historical studies about a wide range of genders, and information about surviving sexual assault and interpersonal violence. All you need is a picture ID to check out materials. We also have menstrual care and hygiene products available, and we offer stress-relief activities like stress balls, coloring and journaling materials, and a cozy lounge space.  Need something else? We can connect you to things like lactation spaces, single-stall restrooms, STI testing, advocacy services, and more.
