The annual event, which will be held on Monday, April 8, and Tuesday, April 9, at the Hooper Eblen Center, provides a venue for undergraduate and graduate students to display their research and creative projects.

This year’s event features posters and paper presentations generated from 222 submitted abstracts on topics from 23 fields of study to the university’s Research & Economic Development.

“This event is so important because it provides an opportunity to showcase, in one location, research and creative inquiry projects from departments and schools across the campus,” said Jamie Murdock, the grant development manager in Research & Economic Development

Students will register and set up their posters on Monday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Eblen Center with judging to follow from 4 to 6 p.m. The English Department paper presentations will also be held on Monday from 12:20 to 1:15 p.m. in the Volpe Library, instruction room 248.

On Tuesday, posters will be displayed for the campus and community from 9 until 11 a.m. with the awards ceremony to follow.

The event captures the spirit of a resolution by the U.S. House of Representatives designating Undergraduate Research Week during April and a proclamation by Tennessee Governor Bill Lee designating Graduate Education Week in February.

“Events such as this stimulate active learning, enhance presentation skills and provide opportunities for collaboration around areas of mutual interest,” Murdock said.

The presentations are free and open to the public. The Hooper Eblen Center is located at 1100 McGee Boulevard in Cookeville.
