How to Apply for Dual Enrollment

To receive college credit for your dual enrollment courses through Tennessee Tech, you and your parent or guardian must complete several required steps. Follow the checklist below based on whether you are a new or returning dual enrollment student. Are you a returning dual enrollment student? Learn how to apply here.

Step 1

Complete the Dual Enrollment Application as New Student

Submit the Tennessee Tech dual enrollment application and pay the $25 application fee. If you do not pay the fee when you apply, you can log back in later to pay using the email and password you used for your application. You can use Tech Express to view received and missing admissions requirements.

You must apply for the specific dual enrollment semester (fall, spring or summer) no later than five business days before your courses begin.

Step 2

Complete the Intent to Attend Form

A parent or guardian must complete the online Intent to Attend form. If the form is started but not submitted, your parent or guardian will need to begin again. The Intent to Attend form must be submitted no later than two business days before your dual enrollment courses start.

Approximately 24 hours after you complete your application, you will be able to look up your Tennessee Tech ID (T-number). You will need this ID for your remaining steps.

Step 3

Complete the Tennessee Tech health form

A parent or guardian must complete the required health form using your Tennessee Tech ID (T-number). Once the form is completed, save a local copy when prompted. Returning dual enrollment students who have already submitted a health form do not need to submit another. The health form must be submitted no later than two business days before your courses start.

Step 4

Request/Submit Transcripts (if applicable)

If you have taken dual enrollment courses through another college or university, you or your parent must request that an official transcript be sent directly from that institution to the Tennessee Tech Office of Admissions. Digital transcript transfer is recommended because it provides tracking and proof of submission.

Step 5

Apply for the TSAC Dual Enrollment Grant

You or your parent must apply for the TSAC Dual Enrollment Grant each year if you want to use it to help pay for courses. If you do not apply for the grant, you will be responsible for paying out of pocket. The grant application is submitted through your TSAC student account. See the “Costs, Grants and Payment Options” page for more information and deadlines.

Step 6

Register for dual enrollment courses at your high school

You will select your dual enrollment courses through your high school. Your school sends class rosters to the Tennessee Tech Office of Admissions, and Tennessee Tech uses those rosters to enroll you in the correct courses. You do not register for dual enrollment courses through Tech Express.

Returning dual enrollment students

If you are a returning dual enrollment student with continuous enrollment from the previous fall or spring term (summer does not count as a break), you do not submit a new application. Instead, complete the returning student form in your application portal.

To update your dual enrollment status as a returning student:

  • Log in to your Tennessee Tech application portal.
  • Open your dual enrollment application to view your status page.
  • Find the question asking whether you are a returning dual enrollment student and follow the link provided.
  • Complete the returning student form, sign your name and submit.

If you take a break in dual enrollment during a fall or spring term, you will need to submit a new dual enrollment application when you return.
