Math Course Placement
Student success in their first math class at Tennessee Tech is important and relies in part on correct course placement. The goal is for students to be placed into the appropriate math course based on their current knowledge.
Students are placed into their first math course based on their major, any prior college-level math credit and Math ACT score.

What if I don't have an ACT score?
Students without ACT (or SAT) scores are advised to take the ALEKS PPL assessment for placement. Otherwise, the current Tech policy will place students using high school GPA. Contact your advisor for further information about placement via high school GPA.
What if I don't agree with my course placement?
Students wishing to challenge their course placement may choose to take the ALEKS PPL Assessment. See ALEKS PPL Challenge Test for further info.
