Faculty Content Review Checklist
After migration, all courses require review and editing in Canvas. Content may function differently than in D2L, so plan time to verify and update each section before publishing. The sections below are organized to help you review your migrated course content and prepare for the upcoming semester. As you work through the list, there are resources available to help you learn how to navigate Canvas. You can also view the Canvas and D2L Feature Page to learn the similarities and differences between Canvas and D2L. After you have worked through each section, we recommend scheduling a consultation with one of our Instructional Designers to review your course and make any final adjustments.
To ensure everything is working correctly, use the "View as Student" option within the upper right-hand corner in your Canvas course.

Resources
- Migration Exception Log
Migration Exception Log
After your course has been migrated to Canvas, use the Migration Exception Log to quickly identify and review any content that may not have transferred exactly as intended. Accessible from the Pages area in every migrated course, this log highlights items that may require attention before publishing—such as draft announcements that are now visible or quiz settings that may need adjustment.
The log also includes direct links to affected content, making it easy to review and update as needed. A final section provides informational notes about changes that do not require action but help clarify how Canvas handled features differently from D2L.
Designed to streamline post-migration review, the Migration Exception Log helps ensure your course content and settings align with your instructional intent before students gain access. A list of common entries you may see in the Exception Log can be found on the Frequently Asked Questions webpage.

Edit
- If you have not already made the needed edits while working through the sections above, we recommend referring to the corresponding section above and the entry on your course exception log to see if edits are needed and how to improve your content.
- Syllabus
Syllabus
The course syllabus is located within the Syllabus section in the left-side navigation of your course.
- Accessibility
Accessibility
As you work through the Modules and reviewing your course content, don't forget to check the accessibility of your course content. Panorama is available within Canvas and can be used to help review pages with the Rich Content Editor (RCE), PDFs, and overall course accessibility. As within D2L, we recommend using the built-in checkers within Office 365 to help ensure documents are accessible and YuJa Media to create accessible videos.
Review
- Course content for accessibility.
Edit
- Refer to the Accessibility Resources to learn how to improve the accessibility of your course content.
NOTE: We are working on updating the resources available on our website to align with tools in Canvas. If you have questions regarding documentation or a tool, please contact citl@tntech.edu.
