Supported Instructional Technology
The software listed here is the main software that we support campus-wide for classroom instruction.
iLearn, powered by D2L Brightspace, is our campus learning environment for classes. It has the ability to include instructional resources, student engagement, assessments and more. To use the iLearn system, faculty must first attend the Introduction to the Learning Environment workshop.
Kaltura is a media storage platform that allows our faculty and students to create and upload videos for classwork. It can be used for creating lecture capture videos (replacing TechSmith Relay), uploading videos you create, linking to Youtube videos, provides analytics as to viewing habits, add quiz questions into the video (even Youtube) and provides mechanical captioning. It integrates with iLearn to allow faculty and students to easily share vidoes.
Poll Everywhere is a great tool to engage your class in real time. It allows you to conduct formative assessments, foster student engagement, increase the productivity of class discussions and incorporate it into your classroom presentations with a clicker-free student response system.
With Qualtrics Insight Platform survey software, it’s a breeze to capture, analyze, and act on insights. Our popular online survey collaboration features make it easy for you to build and share a survey with peers inside or outside your organization. You are in control. Point and click your way to high caliber, branded online surveys that will impress you, your boss, and your audience.
The Respondus suite of software includes Respondus, StudyMate, Test Bank Network and Lockdown Browser. Respondus is an exam authoring tool that can be printed or published to the campus learning environment. StudyMate allows faculty to create self-assessments and learning games for students to use to "master the basics". It is made up of StudyMate Author for creation and StudyMate Class for online collaboration and student participation. The Test Bank Network contains thousands of test banks for leading textbooks in higher education. It can be used with Respondus and StudyMate Class. Lockdown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment. It is installed in all campus labs and open computing areas for students.
Turnitin helps educators evaluate student work and provide great feedback to improve student learning. The cloud-based service is available for faculty at Tennessee Tech through the TBR site license. It offers plagiarism prevention, online grading, and peer review in one easy-to-use service.
WordPress is for our Faculty web sites only. We support faculty who would like to develop a Faculty web site on our sites.tntech.edu server. To request a site, please complete the online form. Please note, students do not have access to develop sites on this server or any administrative access. They can access the public web site.
Zoom is a cloud-based technology that can be used by faculty, staff, and students to interact with others using video, audio and screen sharing capabilities. All you need is an account, a capable device and the internet. On a desktop computer (Mac, Windows or Linux) all you need is an internet connection and a web browser. There are also iOS and Android apps available for mobile devices.
