
College Town Weekends is a promotion that combines both on-campus and off-campus events into one list so students can easily find weekend activities of interest. Students are encouraged to take advantage of all that Tech and the surrounding community have to offer. After all, Cookeville is Tennessee’s college town!

Join Ranger Aaron for a guided approximately 1-mile night hike under the Snow Moon. The hike includes discussion of park history, the origin of the Snow Moon name, and local wildlife. Cost is $5.00 per person. Participants should wear weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes.

Annual Trail Run and Plunge featuring a recreational 5K trail run at 9:00 AM, plunge-only option at 10:00 AM, and a free Kid Fun Run and Ball Pit Plunge at 10:30 AM. The event runs until 12:00 PM CST. Registration is $55 for run and plunge, $35 for plunge only, and free for kids. Participants receive breakfast items, beverages, and a swag item. Water shoes and warm clothing are recommended.

The 2nd Annual Valentine’s Day Market featuring more than 30 local vendors, handmade gifts, jewelry, baked goods, flowers, Valentine’s treats, a free Adopt-a-Bear station with purchase, candy trail, silent cake auction benefiting a local charity, photo booth, mascot meet-and-greet, concessions, and a bouncy house (weather permitting). This free, family-friendly event encourages shopping local and donating personal care items to those in need.

The Fourth Annual Chocolate Festival invites participants to purchase a $5 map at Jamie’s Eats & Sweets and explore participating local businesses for free or discounted chocolate, exclusive discounts, and a chance to win a prize basket. Each map is valid for one piece of chocolate at each location.

Marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K races along the Blackburn Fork State Scenic River and rural back roads of Jackson County. The marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier. The chip-timed event includes aid stations, race t-shirts, wooden finisher medals, and multiple award categories. Proceeds support Cummins Falls State Park.
