Tennessee Tech’s New General Education Program
Through our Flight Foundations general education curriculum, Tech provides a pathway to tomorrow’s opportunities. Flight Foundations supplements all majors with a breadth of knowledge and depth of competencies to equip both career-ready professionals and global citizens. General education spans across academic disciplines and honors the relationship among bodies of knowledge; thus, serving as the cornerstone of the undergraduate experience.
We envision a future where our students, empowered by a foundation of critical thinking, cultural awareness, and creativity, are prepared to navigate and shape the challenges and innovations of tomorrow. Flight Foundations is the cornerstone of a future where our graduates lead with confidence, adaptability, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Flight Foundations Requirements
The new Flight Foundations curriculum requires 41 hours of general education credit distributed across 7 categories: [1] Communication; [2] Quantitative Reasoning and Analysis; [3] Social and Behavioral Sciences; [4] Historical Foundations; [5] Humanities and Cultural Expression; [6] Scientific Reasoning; and [7] Financial Literacy or Digital Literacy. To fulfill the required 41 credit hours in Flight Foundations, the following categories MUST have the number of credit hours listed:

The following categories MUST have the minimum number of credit hours listed in the range. The 4 remaining required credit hours are flexible WITHIN the ranges listed and in the following categories only:
