Text-Based Scams Reminder...
This is a reminder to beware of text and SMS-based scams targeting individuals. These messages typically claim to be from university officials, departments, or other students and aim to defraud Tech students.
A few things to know:

- Beware of "job offers" that are sent via text, especially if offering large sums of money to perform basic tasks like purchasing gift cards.
- Beware of text messages offering you money for your profile picture or other profile materials on GroupMe or other social media. This is a common "advance fee scam."
If you receive a suspicious text message:
- Do not reply to the text or interact with the sender
- Block the phone number
- Send a screenshot to Phishing@tntech.edu
