Tennessee Tech University is set to host students, families, alumni and members of the community for a slate of events throughout the weekend that will draw locals and visitors alike to Cookeville. 

Friday, April 14 through Sunday, April 16 marks Wings Up Weekend, an annual event bringing alumni and community members to campus each spring. The weekend also marks the latest installment of College Town Weekends, an event series combining both on-campus and off-campus activities to help Tech students take advantage of all the community has to offer. 

“Wings Up Weekend is a celebration of all things purple and gold and, in many ways, serves as a spring homecoming for alumni and the Golden Eagle Community. It's a chance to visit Tennessee Tech, see what's new on campus and participate in a variety of events,” said Kelly Chambers, assistant director for the Crawford Alumni Center. “There's something for everyone this year, from the Window on the World festival to the purple and gold football game.”

“Tech’s campus and our home base here in Cookeville offer opportunities for students every day of the week,” added Ben Stubbs, assistant vice president for student engagement. “Our College Town Weekends bring together high energy activities and curated events that showcase the best of our community and highlight why Cookeville is Tennessee’s college town.” 

Planned events include:

• Friday, April 14 at 8:30 a.m., Huntin’ 4 Eagles Golf Tournament: Join fellow Golden Eagle golfers for Exercise Science's Sport Management concentration student project and fundraiser, the Huntin' 4 Eagles Golf Tournament. Registration is $75 per golfer or $300 for a group of more. Learn more here.
  
  
• Friday, April 14 at noon, SGA/ASB reunion: Join Tech alums who participated in the Associated Student Body and Student Government Association for a reunion during Wings Up Weekend. The program will include lunch, meeting current SGA members, and a campus update from President Oldham. While online registration for this event is now closed, interested alumni can still attend by contacting Brooke Fleenor, events coordinator for the alumni center, at BLJones@tntech.edu.
  
  
• Friday, April 14 at 5 p.m., Jazz on the Plaza: Join the School of Music on Centennial Plaza for performances from local school jazz bands, the Big Band Sound and Tech student jazz bands.
  
  
• Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15 at 8 p.m., Leading Ladies: The Department of English and the Alpha Psi Omega Dramatic Honors Society proudly present the 33rd annual Dorothy Printz Pennebaker Memorial spring production, “Leading Ladies” at Tech’s Backdoor Playhouse. Tickets are $15 general admission, $12 senior citizens and $5 for all students. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the box office on the night of the performance.
  
  
• Saturday, April 15 at 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Window on the World: Window on the World (WOW) is Tech’s international festival celebrating cultural diversity and harmony. The celebration includes a variety of display booths, music and dances. Admission to WOW is free. See the full schedule of events here.
  
  
• Saturday, April 15 at 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Firefly Festival: Join the Cookeville community at Dogwood Park for this free event designed to celebrate, support and showcase local musicians and artists in the Upper Cumberland. The festival includes music performances from the stage throughout the day, local arts and crafts demonstrations, local artists and makers selling their works, food vendors, kids activities and more. • Saturday, April 15 at 1 p.m., Purple and Gold football game: Cheer on our Golden Eagle football team at the last scrimmage of their spring practice. Located at Tucker Stadium.
  
  
• Saturday, April 15 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., Tech softball game: Join us at the Tech softball field and root for the Golden Eagles as they take on Eastern Illinois University.
  
  
• Saturday, April 15 at noon, Eagle Works: Eagle Works is Tech's Shark Tank-style competition where students create innovative ideas and pitch them to a panel of judges for the chance to win awards totaling over $20,000. Meet this year’s competitors and browse the trade show from noon-1:30 p.m. in Bell Hall 260, then watch the finalists make their best pitch to the “sharks” starting at 2 p.m. in the Bell Hall Auditorium. • Saturday, April 15 at 4 p.m., Afro-Caribbean Ensemble Concert: Join the School of Music on Centennial Plaza for this free event.
  
  
• Sunday, April 16 at 6 p.m., Concert: Opera and theater musical scenes: The School of Music presents this free concert in the Wattenbarger Auditorium of the Bryan Fine Arts Building.
