Two Categories

  • Short Story
    • First Prize: $400
    • Second Prize: $100
  • Narrative Essay
    • First Prize: $400
    • Second Prize: $100


  • Open to all part-time or full-time undergraduate Tennessee Tech students enrolled during the current academic year
  • One entry per person, one category only
  • Submit a portfolio of work, 20 pages maximum, with no identifying information about the author on any manuscript, titled with the title of one story/essay and the phrase "and other stories" or "essays." Double-space, and use 12-point font.
  • All entries are anonymous. Attach a separate 3 X 5 card to your portfolio, with the portfolio title and the student's T number, email address, and phone number.
  • Entries will not be returned. Also, unless otherwise directed by the author, judges will submit all entries for possible inclusion in Tennessee Tech's student literary magazine, The Iris Review.
  • No Electronic Submissions.
