Located in the heart of one of the nation’s strongest manufacturing economies, the Department of Manufacturing and Industrial Systems Engineering brings together engineering technology, industrial and systems engineering, advanced manufacturing and interdisciplinary engineering. Through applied learning, research and industry collaboration, faculty and students advance the technologies, processes and systems that shape modern manufacturing and industry.

Research and Innovation
MISE faculty and students conduct multidisciplinary research addressing industry-relevant challenges in advanced manufacturing, metal casting, metallurgy, additive manufacturing, process optimization, automation and smart manufacturing. The department also partners with industry through sponsored research, technical problem solving, prototype development, workforce training and collaborative technology development.
