Amy Wilegus — Chief Audit Executive
With over 30 years of experience in internal and external auditing, including IT security,
and over 10 years of experience in higher education in Tennessee, Amy Wilegus leads
the Office of Internal Audit and Enterprise Risk team for Tennessee Tech. Amy leads
independent audits, investigations, risk assessments, and advisory services to support
Tennessee Tech's objectives and to add value to its operations. Ms. Wilegus reports
functionally to the Chair of the Audit & Business Committee and administratively to
the President providing insight to enterprise risks and Internal Audit operations.
Amy also serves as a liaison with state and federal agencies, including law enforcement
regarding audits and investigations. Amy holds a Bachelor of Business Administration
in accounting and a minor in IT from Millsaps College. She also holds a Master of
Science in Accounting from the University of Memphis. Amy maintains active Certified
Public Accountant, Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Information Systems
Security Professional, and Certified Risk and Information Systems Controls licenses
and certifications. Amy recently served a two-year term on the Board of Governors
for the Memphis Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors. In her personal time,
Amy enjoys spending time with her family, playing tennis and pickleball, and traveling.
Sherry Maynard - Executive Assistant
Sherry Maynard serves as the Executive Assistant to the Chief Audit Executive in the
Office of Internal Audit and Enterprise Risk, where she supports the team through
daily office operations, manages board meeting materials, and coordinates administrative
tasks. Prior to joining the university, Sherry was a public-school teacher and gained
over 16 years of experience as as executive assistant. Sherry holds a Bachelor of
Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Austin Peay State University. Sherry
appreciate the welcoming and supportive environment at the university and serves on
the Tech Parent Association Board. In her free time, Sherry enjoys photography, being
outdoors, and spending time with her husband and two grown children.
John Plyler - Senior Auditor
With over 25 years of Internal Audit experience and seven year of higher education
auditing in Tennessee, John Plyler is a Senior Auditor in the Office of Internal Audit.
Prior to joining Tennessee Tech University, John worked for the University of Tennessee
System and Vanderbilt University as a Senior Auditor. Preceding his time in Tennessee,
John was the Manager of Internal Audit for Wake Baptist Medical Center and Wake Forest
University. John graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill and received his Master of Business from Wake Forest University.
John and his wife, Kim, have a daughter in high school and a son in elementary school. They enjoy spending time together, which mostly revolves around their kids' sporting events. Their daughter plays travel and high school soccer. Their son plays several sports including football and baseball; in which John helps to coach both sports. Every family member volunteers at the Special Olympics of Tennessee, finding so much joy bringing sports and wellness to people with intellectual disabilities.
Lauren Rosch — Internal Auditor
Lauren Rosch serves as an Internal Auditor within the Office of Internal Audit, where
she executes audits and consulting requests. Lauren holds both a Bachelor of Arts
in Sports Management, Minor in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration
from Lenoir-Rhyne University. Lauren also recently earn her Master of Accountancy
from Tennessee Tech. Lauren specializes in compliance reviews, with specific expertise
in inventory, athletics, and policy compliance. Prior to joining the university, she
established a professional background in sports and non-profit event coordination.
Inspired by the welcoming campus environment and a deep belief in the university's
mission, Lauren quickly embodied the "Wings Up" way. Outside of her professional responsibilities,
Laurent enjoys traveling, playing soccer, and spending time with her two dogs.
